On "world chocolate day", we turn towards the roots of our beloved Cacao, her ancient heartbeat.
Like many of our most potent master plant teachers, Cacao has been abused by an industry that capitalizes on her medicine, imposing child slavery and sugar addiction onto her generous spirit. So how do we honor the true essence of Cacao?
We return to the roots.
The roots of her tree, that still grows wild in the jungles of the Amazon.
The roots of her Mesoamerican people, who hold the cultural legacy of her medicine as sacrament, as abundance, as community weaver, as celebration, as mother.
This year we have been blessed to weave with Cacao in a new way ~ deepening our relationship to her medicine and her legacy. As part of this path, our work to share Cacao is supporting the special project at Huaca Montegrande ~ an active archeological dig in Northern Peru, uncovering an ancient Cacao temple that is revolutionizing what we know about ancient civilizations and the human relationship with Cacao!
One percent of all Quintessence Botanicals proceeds is donated to Huaca Montegrande via the Abundant Earth Foundation. If you feel inspired to make a special donation to Huaca Montegrande you can do so here.
Blessed remembrance of the roots of our medicines!
